I'm disappointed in you Jay. You are using your mothers Last Name and not your real last name, which is ATKINS, not TITUS. While I enjoyed your brief sojourn into the history of the name "Jay", I wondered if you took the time to research the name of Atkins. There's a great history there, too. My name, (your father) Thomas Atkins , is in the dictionary and one of your ancestors was high in the aristocracy of old England, just to mention a couple. You have your reasons for this, but it is important to remember who you are and be proud of your heritage. God bless you.

New site. Who dis?

I'm just kidding. Do you know your comments are public? I sure hope you are ok with this. I have no issues sharing our history. This will be fun.

........

I did do the research. I've been researching it since I was a young child. Here's what I learned. It is one of the most common English names, but has military heroes throughout history like Lieutenant Dan from Forest Gump. It is the reason British soldiers were called Tommies. You would think if a surname had such prestige that those who carried it would want to live up to it.

I carried this name for many years, but I couldn't find a single hero who carried that name in my own family. Maybe there are, but I never got to know them. How much time should you give a parent to take an interest in you? I thought 50 years was a pretty good buffer. Maybe I'm insensitive and some people are just slow. How many more years would you need?

..........

Here's what I know about you. You wouldn't like me anyway. You adopted another kid who is so homophobic and transphobic that she is, to this day, the only person I have ever blocked on Facebook. If that is part of your "Christian faith" then you can keep your "God Bless You". I didn't sneeze.

Since the cat is out of the bag that I legally changed my name to Titus you should probably know that your three biological grandkids were born Murray's. They have never carried your surname.

Fathers need to earn the right to pass their name down. That wannabe dictator you support wanted to get rid of DEI programs. I'm just doing that in my family. Maybe we give matriarchy a try. More mothers have earned that right in society than fathers have.

Well, that's enough for now, but hey Pop. Take a look in the mirror and think about who should be disappointed in who. Maybe be thankful that I didn't change my middle name to Tiberius which I seriously contemplated.

Wow! What a pathetic diatribe. I'm sorry if I upset you. I have no problem with the name change. If you feel it's detrimental to your persona, I get it. I will pray for you. That is all. Tommie Atkins over and out. Good luck!

You know I always find it ironic that people who say, "God Bless You" and "I'll pray for you" are almost always the worst people. My only thought is that you are hiding behind a god that you hope will forgive you just for saying you believe in them. Actions speak far more loudly than words.

Also, who writes "pathetic" and "sorry" right after each other? You know it loses all meaning and the point you want to get across right? The same thing happens when you hide behind "God bless you" and "I'll pray for you". It is absolutely meaningless based on your lifetime of actions and inactions. It's really a failure of critical thinking and self-reflection when you think about it.

I mean you probably think that starting out a comment with "I'm disappointed in you" is some kind of thing you even get to say. I haven't spoken to you in close to three years and that was for like 2 minutes.

We don't know each other. You definitely don't know me and you really don't know your biological grandchildren. You didn't even know their last name or mine. I changed it over a year ago.

I would politely advise you to stop digging. I'm not angry, but I am disappointed in you as a commentor on my personal blog. I expect more critical thinking skills. I would say I'm disappointed in you as a father, but I don't think you meet that definition. Never too late to join the priesthood though.

Thanks for reading! The blog is new but hey stick around and try some other posts. You might learn something.

Tots and Pears to you. Far more filling than "Thoughts & Prayers". You can eat them.
